What do you do when you get so bogged down in overwhelm or just feel like life is totally off track? Sometimes you need a great plan to kickstart that momentum in the positive direction.

Was there ever a time in your life when things were going well? When you were happy, life was good and you seemed to be on track? It doesn’t mean your life was perfect or that nothing was going wrong, but overall, things were feeling pretty good.

Sean Stephenson coined the idea of a When Life Works List. I love this. A When Life Works List is a list of things that you seem to be doing right at a point when things are going well.

Check out his video.

For example, on my When Life Works List you will find things like:

  • Exercising at least 20 minutes daily.
  • Doing 20 minutes of personal development reading each morning.
  • Drinking plenty of water daily.
  • Getting at least 7.5 hours of sleep with bedtime at 10pm.

These are a few things on my When Life Works List. The great thing about this list is that I can refer back to it when life stops working. When I start to fall into a slump or things don’t seem to be going as well, I can refer back to that list and pick one or two of the items on this list and really focus on getting back to those things. When I get back to those, the rest seem to fall in line and my life starts working again.

I love the idea of a When Life Works List (WLWL) and have been recommending it to my coaching clients for quite some time now. It is a powerful tool to help us get back on track and moving in the right direction.

What is on your When Life Works List?
