Has blogging for you turned into bl-ahh-ging? Truly, marketing your business can start to feel like a chore after a while.

And we all know that the minute you stop cranking out sales marketing content you will also affect how much business comes down the pike a month from now. And don’t, “Oh, but it’s only been two weeks!” me.

Instead of dwelling on the time we don’t have, let’s look at 6 ideas for fast, efficient blog writing:

Eliminate distractions

You’ll be shocked how quickly you can write without distractions. If I shut down my emails and push my phone to the side, in about half an hour, I can have a blog ready to publish.

For others, closing the door or writing your blogs after hours when no emails are dinging through is the key to eliminating distractions from blog writing.

Schedule time to write

If you need a doctor’s appointment, or to get your nails done, you put the time in your schedule. Likewise, business networking and client appointments are all slotted into our days. So, why not schedule time to write your blogs?

Give yourself one hour to write a blog. And keep an eye on the clock to ensure you get it done.

Use pictures creatively

You don’t have to write a zillion words for a blog to count as a blog. Grab a family photo or three pictures of you looking your best and talk about them in your blog.

Remember that you can twist anything to fit your business. “3 business lessons I learned from job interviews” can be supplemented by pics of you in your business suit.

Send yourself memos

I cannot tell when an idea will strike me – in the car, at a meeting, while I stand in line at the bank. I am famous for shooting myself blog headlines via email from my smartphone.

If you feel up to it, you can also jot down a few notes in the body of the subject line. Do whatever you need to so that you remember what you wanted to write about, what struck a chord with you, and why the issue was important to your business.

Hash out a blog calendar

Blog calendars tell you what to publish when. Have a speaking engagement? Blog about it a month in advance, and then two weeks in advance, to get the word out.

Instead of struggling to think of topics, put all your major events on the calendar so you can blog about them. This will help you get even more business by promoting up coming events anytime the creative juices run dry.

Ask your assistant for help

If you’ve written a draft that belittles all drafts, now is the time to have a second set of eyes tie up the loose ends.  Have your assistant put the final touches on your writing so that you can get back to working with clients to bring in the big bucks.

Sorry to say that blogging is a necessary evil of most business. And if it feels like too much of a chore for you, figuring out solutions to make yourself more efficient with everything you write just makes sense.
